Linking Stool kindergarten stool by Bruce Tao Linking Stool is a backless seat designed for kindergarten use. The seat is round, is made of teakwood and measures 400 by 245 by 230 millimeters. A connecting plate and a linking shaft fit into holes in the seat, so several units can be joined or separated quickly. The linking system was inspired by a bicycle chain. Joined seats allow children to sit close together and play games around a teacher. The design also keeps seating tidy instead of scattered and supports the supervision of group activities. Golden Life Wine Packaging by Bruce Tao Golden Life is a packaging design for green plum wine. The form is inspired by traditional Japanese architecture with Chinese elements, including temple and house profiles and the curves of Zen buildings. A golden color reflects the tone of the wine. The outer box is made of composite paper combined with polyethylene and foil, while the bottle is made of glass, a chemically stable material that is not corroded by alcohol or acids. An opening on the side saves material and production steps. A removable ring and a ribbon hold the package closed and make it easy to carry. Double Face Lamp by Bruce Tao Double Face is a lamp designed for use during power outages. The lamp works as a normal light when electricity is available, and the same supply charges a flashlight held inside the body. When the power fails, the upper part is rotated so the charged light continues to illuminate the room. The upper light can also be removed and carried as a flashlight. The shell is made of aluminium alloy for light weight, strength and corrosion resistance, and the base is made of plastic. Double Face measures 18 by 18 by 48 centimetres. Free Lock Luggage by Bruce Tao Free Lock is a suitcase designed for travelers who must leave luggage unattended for short periods. The handle of Free Lock also works as a lock. The handle is released with a coded lock, turned 90 degrees and fastened to a fixed object such as a seat or a railing. Travelers can then rest or use a restroom without carrying the case. The body is made mainly of ABS and PC plastic, which is hard and resistant to impact. The four corners are covered with aluminum for added protection. The case measures 48.5 by 38.5 by 84 centimeters. Donut Lamp by Bruce Tao Donut is a desk lamp designed for bedrooms and reading areas. The lamp has no visible switch. The shade is shaped like a donut and also serves as the control. The lamp is turned on by placing a hand on the shade and pushing it clockwise. Further clockwise movement increases the brightness, while counterclockwise movement lowers the brightness or turns the lamp off. The outer layer of the shade is made of linen, which softens the light and creates a warm atmosphere. The lamp measures 15 cm in length, 15 cm in width and 30 cm in height. Grille Bookcase by Bruce Tao Grille is a modular bookcase inspired by the form of the traditional Chinese grille. The bookcase is made of pine wood and measures 124 cm in length, 32 cm in width and 186 cm in height. A white frame holds small wooden boxes, four in each row and six in each column. Each small box can be placed in four different directions, and one part of the box is rotated by 45 degrees. Users assemble the boxes themselves, so many different patterns can be created. The bookcase provides storage that can be arranged by personal preference. Pagoda Cabinet by Bruce Tao Pagoda is a storage cabinet inspired by the form of Buddhist pagodas. Each level carries an eave, and the cabinet opens by rotation instead of by pulling drawers. The user grasps an eave and turns the level around an axis at the back, which opens more storage area within the same footprint. The lowest level is a traditional drawer 15 centimeters high, and this drawer keeps the center of gravity low and stable. Four universal wheels allow the cabinet to be moved easily. The body is made of red zebrawood. Pad Chair by Bruce Tao Pad is a folding chair designed to save space. The chair folds into a flat panel that measures 41 cm in length, 4 cm in width and 86 cm in height. Several folded panels can be stacked and stored together. To open the chair, the bottom beam is pulled down so the seat and the legs come out. The seat is then folded up by 90 degrees, and the legs are folded down by 90 degrees. Pad is made of teak, a wood that is stable, wear resistant and protected against decay and insects. The flat form suits homes and public places. Changer Luggage by Bruce Tao Changer is a resizable suitcase designed for travelers whose storage needs vary from trip to trip. The shell is formed from multiple nested layers of casing. In the compact state, Changer serves as a small case that can be carried on board an aircraft. Turning the knob on the front releases the inner sections, which are pulled out to form a large suitcase, and turning the knob back locks the selected size. The body is made mainly of ABS and PC plastic, and the four corners are covered with aluminum for protection. Shr.d Music Player by Bruce Tao Shr.d is a wall mounted record player designed for modern homes. The player is fixed to the wall and connected to a power supply. A vinyl record is placed on the front face, and a dial lever starts the playback. A USB port on the right side allows other music files to be played, so the unit also serves as a home stereo. The base is made of ABS, a material that resists impact and scratches, stays dimensionally stable and conducts heat slowly. Shr.d measures 32.5 cm in length, 7.9 cm in width and 28 cm in height. Yanzhi Lipstick by Bruce Tao Yanzhi is a lipstick inspired by the rouge papers used in ancient China. The design returns a classical cosmetic form to modern daily life. A gentle push on the bottom of the case moves the lipstick paper outward. The user then presses the lips onto the paper to apply color, and the paper is drawn back by a small tab. The case is made of PP plastic, a material suitable for direct contact with cosmetics and food, and the lipstick part is made of waterproof, tear resistant paper. The thin, flat body fits easily into a wallet. Gradient Ramp Tape by Bruce Tao Gradient Ramp is an adhesive tape designed to make the cut end easier to find. Standard transparent tape is very thin, so the edge is often hard to locate after use. Gradient Ramp carries a gradient of color along its length. When the tape is cut, the layers create a visible color difference at the cut line. The user looks for the area of strongest contrast and lifts the tape from that point. The tape is made of a PVC film without plasticizer, which offers good low temperature resistance, strong initial tack and easy cutting. QR Coder Stamp by Bruce Tao QR Coder is an electronic stamp that produces QR codes. The design combines the traditional seal with the QR code, which can carry a large amount of information. QR Coder connects to a mobile phone by Bluetooth after a long press of the top switch. The required code is edited on the phone and sent to the stamp, where the pattern is formed at the base. The body is made of ABS, a material that is impact resistant, scratch resistant, moisture proof and slow to conduct heat. QR Coder measures 2 by 2 by 5 centimeters. Seaview Lamp by Bruce Tao Seaview is a desk lamp designed for reading, study and work at home. The lamp has no external switch. Two bulbs are shaped like the sun and the moon, and the controls are built into these bulbs. Users place a hand on a bulb and push it clockwise to turn on the light and to raise the brightness. Pushing counterclockwise lowers the brightness and turns the light off. The sun gives white light and the moon gives yellow light. The shell is made of aluminum alloy and the base is made of plastic. Tetris Bookcase by Bruce Tao Tetris is a modular bookcase designed for flexible storage. The bookcase consists of a large frame and a set of small cabinets shaped like the blocks of a tile-matching game. Users remove the small cabinets and rearrange them by shape and colour to compose a personal layout. Each small cabinet can also be taken out and used on its own as a storage box. The bookcase is made of aluminium alloy, a light material with good stiffness, strength, corrosion resistance and weldability. It measures 120.6 by 30.4 by 181.6 centimetres. Zazen Multifunctional Chair by Bruce Tao Zazen is a multifunctional chair designed for work and rest in public places such as offices and libraries. Zazen can be turned over to change its function. With the small-opening side up, Zazen serves as an ordinary chair for study and work. With the large-opening side up, Zazen becomes a wide sofa that offers a comfortable space for reading and meditation. Users can sit cross-legged on the sofa surface. Zazen is made of teak, a stable and wear-resistant wood, and measures 96 cm in length, 68 cm in width and 65 cm in height. |
